What I’m thinking about
As mentioned, this week I finally got around to nailing down a v1 of my decade roadmap. This decade roadmap is something new that I’m trying to really look at the bigger picture, and align my day to day life around where I want to be in 10 years time. So the way I structured this was by reverse engineering the next 10 years and thinking in as much detail as possible what a day in 2035 will look like. After that, I managed to nail down and structure this by answering three simple but deep questions:
-
What’s my vision for life - For example: I want to live in a world where I have balance between work and family, while allowing room for continued growth
- What mission moves me closer to my vision?
- What will you do?
- Who/What purpose will you serve?
- Why is this your mission?
- How will you deliver on your mission?
-
What values will drive my mission - For example self-improvement, integrity and self-discipline to name a few.
Thinking a decade ahead is no easy task, but I believe having, maintaining and being able to balance short, medium and longer-term goals allow for a healthier and more powerful mindset. Especially these days, I feel like there’s so much emphasis on the here and now, those that can dig deep and look ahead to the next decade will sowing the seeds of their personal forests.
So that’s what I’m hoping to do by mapping this out and to do that, I found it very beneficial and helpful to reverse engineered what I want my life to look like and then establish tangible objectives each that can be achieved to create the momentum necessary to bring you closer to your dream life.
