Last week, I didn’t send out the weekly newsletter. I got busy doing other things and it totally slipped my mind. I usually remember before the day is over, but this time it didn’t hit me until early Friday morning that I had missed writing/sending. I thought about sending it out on Friday but my schedule was busy. Do I scramble and find the time or do I admit defeat? This was playing out in my mind like a very serious movie lol.
Rather than try to find time in a busy day to write the newsletter, I decided to let it be. As a result, I am happy to report-no one unsubscribed from the newsletter. No one sent me an angry message about not sending it. Sometimes acknowledging the mistake/flaw/missed opportunity is enough.
For me, I learned that I need more time to brainstorm and write my newsletter or I might need to consider a 2x a month routine for sending them. The lesson emerged from the imperfect moment. If I had been anxious and worried about making it happen, I might have missed this valuable lesson.
Sometimes you will make mistakes. Sometimes you will forget to do something. Sometimes you will completely miss the mark. That is ok. You will be alright. You will emerge wiser and smarter as a result. In those moments you can let that be enough.
Here’s to being consistently imperfect.
