My unrivalled favourite: Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru (tugging at my guitar strings)
Gautham Vasudev Menon packs the full impact of a 3 hour movie in just 48 minutes — in my opinion, an incredible task to pull off.
This episode has multiple songs which I play on loop now. The lyrics are simple yet deep, and are sure to leave a mark on our souls.
When I saw Suriya with the mike, bandana and curly hair, I was instantly reminded of Farhan Akthar from Rock On. Why the aping, I wondered. And soon the story revealed the full depth of the character and Farhan Akthar was out of my mind.
Suriya is probably the most sophisticated actor we have today. His character in this episode is understated yet powerful in its impact. This is a role not many actors can pull off with such ease.
The director deconstructs the process of falling in love beautifully. For many this might seem juvenile but don’t most loves stories begin this way?
The seeds of love could happen over just one conversation, one moment, or one gesture…because one person is bold enough to take the first step.
The ending nailed this episode for me. What seemed juvenile suddenly became too real.
That’s it on this topic for now. If you haven’t watched Navarasa (especially this episode), I urge you to watch it asap.
