UX Weekly: Issue #28

Hi Everyone!  After missing last week’s newsletter due to an information architecture workshop I thought it fitting to share a few tips on facilitation. We’re kicking-off an augmented reality project for an enterprise client next week so I’ve assembled posts on UX and AR too. Oh, and I’ve included two videos from UX Talks 002. Enjoy!

If you’re a UX researcher or designer there’s a good chance you’ve been asked to run a session or workshop. Here at Res this usually comes in the form of sketching sessions, group interviews, and kick-off meetings. Facilitation is critical because both design and research aren’t done in a vacuum – they’re collaborative and involve real people.
Setting an agenda for last week’s information architecture workshop was challenging. The worry about running a workshop sometimes leads us to pack it too full of activities. From my experience, it’s worth following the advice in this article by breaking the activities up in 90-minute chunks (or at least giving yourself more time than you think you need).
Stay tuned for a new post from Brian Frank on getting better at facilitation.
Augmented Reality
Having worked on an augmented reality project in the past I’m excited about the kick-off we have coming up next week. If you’re working on an AR project here are a few resources I’ve found helpful:
