Welcome back {{first_name}} … Shalom from Tel Aviv. Wishing a meaningful Hanukah to everyone celebrating. The warriors of light are on the offensive against the forces of darkness, and while we’re not out of the woods yet (given the pandemic’s numbers), 2021 could be a more promising year. I will be visiting the US this month, so if you’d like to set up a Zoom call in EST hours just ping me here.
My latest piece in ISRAEL21c on the transformation the city of Tulsa is going through: The surprising US city where Israeli tech is heading next

The First Hanukkah Light in Bergen Belsen: If anything, this current wave of COVID seems like it could have been avoided… if only people were more resilient for a bit longer. Here in Israel, while many people are suffering from the pandemic (and ‘corona fatigue’ stems as much from the government’s inability to make concreate decisions) there is the hope that the vaccine will help in returning life to ‘normal’, though not immediately. For the first time this year, hope is not in short supply.
It’s not just faith in medicine (as we truly don’t know the long term effects of the vaccines) but the faith in one’s self to overcome. Never mind that many ‘leaders’ both on the government level and in our day to day have failed, they just didn’t have the chops to deal with a real crisis. It’s not that we’re getting soft as a result of technology (we are) but sometimes it’s shocking to see how un resilient we are. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and sometimes one just need to live life from day to day… which is why a holiday such as Hanukah is so important now. Finding the guide light despite the overwhelming darkness, and gathering the inner strength to face a post-corona world.
We can learn a lot from those who came before us, and how they overcame crushing adversity, whether that be the Maccabees rebellion against the Greeks or the concentration camps. But they did overcome and passed the torch to guide us to where we are today.
Key Takeaways:
⚪️ Without darkness there is no light: We need to go through dark times sometimes to see the light.
⚪️ Patience and resilience: Two traits that in short supply these days.
⚪️ It’s the small things: It’s not the big things that break people, it’s the small things.
