Exclusive: Homethrive raises $20 million to address caregiver crisis: I’ve been reluctant to share this for some time… but drawing on the timeless adage on communicating something important; if you’re afraid to share something then the message needs to go out. Highlighting a startup which is seeking to solve a problem in this space is a good segway of my heeding-the-call in taking on caregiver responsibilities.
I’ve taken on caregiver responsibilities over the past year which can be challenging at times. I’ve done this while continuing to run my content marketing business, produce regular content (though not as often as I’d like), try and have some semblance of a social life… and attempt to maintain my physical and mental health (this is a big topic for another post or two). My personal and professional life often take a backseat to my responsibilities, as anyone going through a similar experience knows it’s a balancing act. While there are online communities for stay-at-home mothers, who still want to be entrepreneurs while raising children, I have been hard pressed to find similar resources for what I call “high-performing caregivers”. This group of professionals, whether they are remote employees or online entrepreneurs who struggle to balance caring for a loved one along with continuing to drive their professional aspirations forward.
Being a high-performing caregiver is something which is possible today as a result of the acceptance of remote work, the ability to work online anywhere, and shifting work/life norms (i.e., how many actual productive hours you can work during the day). I’ll be developing this idea further, and sharing my experiences, along with personal learnings when I find the right medium to publish these ideas on, so stay tuned…
Key Takeaways:
⚪️ Time is key: Carving out time (and intense focus) is so vital, even if it’s for small daily wins.
⚪️ Limitations are beautiful: Nothing amazing was ever accomplished without significant limitations.
⚪️ Better to not regret: There are a million reasons not to do something… and only one good reason.
