Welcome back {{first_name}} … wishing a meaningful Passover and Easter to those celebrating. This is probably a good time to reflect on what we can be grateful for… I’m sure everyone reading this knows someone who has been impacted by COVID-19 (you may have been impacted yourself), and understands how fragile life is.
I would love for you to check out my latest piece in ISRAEL21c where I interview several investors in the Israeli tech space on trends post-COVID-19: Where is VC funding headed post corona?
I am offering a complimentary ½-hour digital marketing strategy session over the phone for B2B businesses looking for digital marketing during this time. I am actively working with organizations impacted by COVID-19, and we’re getting results. To book your time click here.

Celebrating Passover during a modern-day plague by Rabbi Shai Held: This was surprisingly hard for me to write given the effort I make to understand my own religion and tradition. While I have often stated that ‘philosophy as a way of life’ (ex., Stoicism, Buddhism/meditation) offer solid operating systems in order to cope with the modern world, there is wisdom in this piece. Rabbi Held offers the example of the current plague as a tool for understanding how vulnerable we truly are.
In general, there is this sense of humility, of 'not so fast’, of the brakes being put on modern society. For all our feelings of having control, and making progress, we received a rude wake-up call in the way of this virus. In Exodus as the story goes Egypt was the strongest country at the time and it got hit with 10 plagues until Pharaoh conceded. The hardest thing for many people is not just the fear and uncertainty around COVID-19’s spread, but also the question of when it will end. Even the plagues of Egypt had a beginning and an end.
There are of course positive ways to look at this situation, such as time to reflect and spend with family (or your thoughts by yourself.) To appreciate our health, our families’ health, and think about healthy habits we’ll undertake to preempt getting sick in the future. But this plague is still something we need to grit our teeth and bear, but finding a meaning, the why, can help us endure the what.
Key Takeaways:
⚪️ Our vulnerabilities are exposed: We are human after all, and for all our advancements we are still at the whim of these tiny microbes.
⚪️ Connecting with our ancestors: Plagues were a common occurrence during ancient times, and now we know what it feels like to live through one.
⚪️ Freedom is a choice: This is extremely important, we choose in our minds, our thoughts, and through our actions if we want to be slaves to this situation or free.
