“You have competition every day because you set such high standards for yourself that you have to go out every day and live up to that.”
- Michael Jordan
Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant, Ph.D.: I’m probably one of the biggest fans of professor Adam Grant’s work, and while you feel his presence in the writing (especially the nod to the father of modern positive psychology, Martin Seligman) this is Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s book. And more than that, it is the creative process in which she used the sudden death of her husband, Dave, in order to help others deal with tragedy. Most importantly what we learn is what we can do to bounce back. This is not an easy book to read, and I found myself tearing up at certain points of the book, but it’s a necessary book to read, especially in confronting very difficult emotions.
Key takeaway: Journaling does work
