Sharing meaningful experiences, impactful ideas and career + event opportunities in the NY/TLV tech ecosystems

Welcome to YKC. I have to say I was super impressed by this past week’s Hebrew Unversity Nexus conference in New York; I’m pretty sure it was one of the rare times I heard a Nobel Prize winner speak (politicians don’t count) and I have to say that Professor Daniel Kahneman didn’t disappoint. Hebrew U definitely took it up a notch.
Wishing everyone and their families a meaningful and relaxing MDW 🍗🌞🤠
“Those that are a friend to themselves are sure to be a friend to all.”
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams: We read to accomplish two goals; not just because we enjoy the act but also to build empathy (in the sense we put ourselves in other people’s shoes and view the world thru their eyes). As an avid reader of business books, in general, I feel there is usually one big idea that gets rehashed over and over throughout said book of that genre I’m reading at the time (and that one idea can be learned by listening to a podcast interview with the author). Shifting gears to some fiction, particularly as part of a bedtime routine it reminds me of falling asleep to a movie. I’ve always been a big believer in ideation in the conscious state between waking and falling asleep. As for the book itself, a good science fiction book to start with; this book inspired quite a few of the driving forces in Silicon Valley.
My friends at JFE are excited to host JFE VC Talks: What US Investors Look For In Israeli Startups, a panel of leading NY venture investors discussing current investment trends with a focus on Israeli innovation this evening May 24th starting at 6:30pm at one of my favorite working spaces; SOSA. Use the promo code yoniVIP for a 50% YKC discount. To purchase tickets click here.
I wanted to extend an invite to an upcoming FED event on the second night of Shavuot Wednesday, May 31st. It’s a cheese tasting, a talk about cheese from a local cheesemaker, and a gourmet dairy meal. More details click here.
My friends at Geektime are hosting Geektime Next (June 4th, InterContinental Hotel, Tel-Aviv); the largest startup conference in Israel. The event provides attendees with an overview of the innovation ecosystem in Israel, current and future trends and areas of greatest opportunity as well as a glimpse into the biggest startups coming out of Israel. This event is the centerpiece of the Techfest festival; if you’re in Israel or visiting this conference is definitely worth checking out. Loving what Geektime has done in growing from a media company to now producing high-quality events. Click here to learn more and purchase tickets with the YKC discount code: Jonathan_Next15p
