Welcome back YKC community … to YKC. Happy Purim to those celebrating… if anything, celebrating a Jewish holiday overcoming annihilation is apropos at this time.
Similar to the pandemic, it is hard when there are so many events occurring in the world which are out of our control. But really, what is in our control, aside from our inner world and the actions we take as a result of our decisions.
There are actions we can take to make an impact such as supporting humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. To make a donation to the Ukraine Jewish Relief Fund here.

“In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and humility; but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger; stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with hard-favor’d rage.”
-William Shakespeare, Henry V
What I'm reading
What I'm reading
‘I’m not afraid of anyone’: Zelensky defiantly shares location amid Russian attacks: Imagine for a moment an American politician doing what Zelensky is doing. Tempting fate by literally putting themselves in the line of fire. I can’t imagine a scenario like that… Zelensky’s behavior harkens back to the day when kings would lead their armies into war on the battlefield.
War, and struggle, extreme struggle, is where the rubber hits the road… and heroes are created. This is what happens when you count someone out, and they rise to the occasion. Ukraine’s fierce resistance against the Russian onslaught would not have been possible if not for Zelensky’s leading from the front. And today that means having a deft understanding of social media, by broadcasting and speaking directly to his people and the world. His actions just shine a light on how far are leaders have come from actually leading us, and it’s no wonder the state of the world is in such disarray.
Leadership like Zelensky’s offers me some hope… in the future. But for Ukraine, I believe tragically we’ll see much more suffering, and things will get worse before they get better. But in the horrors and pressures of war, a true diamond can be created. If anything, it shows that given the circumstance, true courage stands up to tyranny.
