Welcome back YKC community … Happy Holidays from the US. From 70 degrees strolling on the beach in Tel Aviv into the middle of a monster snowstorm and the dead of a Northeastern winter.
My latest piece in ISRAEL21c: The startups that power the esports you love
I will be hosting our final Upstream mixer of 2020: End of Year Israeli Tech Mixer tomorrow on Dec 23rd at 12pm EST/7pm Israel time. We’ll have a guest speaker, VC Oren Kozlowski from Founders Factory, and you’ll meet a number of good people all under half an hour. To join the mixer click here.
We did it! The Israeli Startup Review reached 10,000 subscribers. I thank you all for joining me on this journey to becoming the fastest growing publication focused on Israeli tech globally. I launched this weekly LinkedIn newsletter during the first wave of the pandemic (hoping it would be the only wave), and its growth rate during this challenging time has definitely exceeded my expectations.
The joy really is in the journey. Yalla, now onto 2021 and to reach the next pinnacle of 25,000 subscribers!

“As long as we persevere and endure, we can get anything we want”
-Mike Tyson
What I'm reading
What I'm reading
9 Success Lessons from Mike Tyson: Why Mike Tyson? Because in 2020 the world got punched in the face. Our best laid plans went to hell, and it became a situation where the strongest (not just financially) but mentally and emotionally not only survived, but thrived. I know I chose a controversial figure to represent what we endured in 2020, but 2020 was a controversial year
2021 and new beginnings, if we can learn anything from Mike it’s that you’re never too old to step into the ring. Tyson went from the literal streets as a juvenile delinquent to the top of the world with his mean streets wild man style of fighting (and lifestyle). Life and boxing can be violent and brutish, and in similar fashion 2020 COVID, and the circumstances associated with the virus kept raining blows upon us. But wrapping up 2020 we’re stronger because of the experience, and while we don’t know what 2021 has in store for us, at least we have the inner strength to know we can bare it.
I for one am optimistic about 2021, not that things can’t get worse (they always can) but that we went through the fight and came out on the other end. And if needed we can do it again in 2021, this time with better mental preparation.
Key Takeaways:
⚪️ You can always start anew: You probably have to go through some stuff anyhow a few times to learn the valuable lessons.
⚪️ Peak physical shape at any age: The ball keeps being moved forward on how long we can maintain peak physical shape.
⚪️ “Everyone has a plan until they’re punched in the face”: If 2020 was a quote, it would be this one.
