What I'm reading
Dream Teams: Working Together Without Falling Apart by Shane SnowI read Shane Snow’s first book, Smartcuts, a few years back during a difficult professional time, and got real value from the book. His work definitely gave me some needed insights and helped me shift from the binary perspective I had at the time.
He’s being billed as a young Malcolm Gladwell for Generation Y and Z, and I think the concept of the book is fitting as empathy and teamwork are something which seems to be in short supply these days. Particularly to truly understand other people’s perspective. With the gig economy, solo freelancing, and lots of time in front of laptop and smartphone screens, this book serves as a reminder that we can’t do it all ourselves, and if we want to truly to be cognitively optimized and succeed we need do so in working with other people.
Key Takeaways:
⚪️ Humility is having its day: Personally, I think humility is overrated, except when it comes to intellectual humility, without which no clairvoyant decision making can happen.
Storytelling was the takeaway: Though probably not the author’s intent, the masterful storytelling makes me want to double down on improving this skill.
Topical release with the World Cup: We’ll look back at the winning team and see ideas from the book in their execution.

Solving real problems
OneRecord: OneRecord is a tool for patients to retrieve their own digital records using healthcare industry standards and modern APIs. OneRecord seamlessly combines all of a patient’s medical records, lab results, immunizations, medications, and family history into one easily accessible and portable place.
When pulling in patient records, OneRecord preserves the original document while standardizing the individual data elements so that they can be aggregated. The aggregate health record can then be exported in a format that can be consumed by any electronic health record system. This ensures that OneRecord users can interact with any existing EHR that their care team already uses.
Doctors have full-time staffs. Patients have OneRecord. For information email their CEO Jennifer directly at jennifer@onerecord.com
