Shalom from the Vaccination Nation YKC community … We achieved another landmark in returning to normalcy here in the Startup Nation - mask wearing is not mandatory outside. It all feels a bit surreal, like the other shoe is going to drop (and with new variants it could happen, but the vaccines seem to be fighting them effectively).
Life here feels almost like before the pandemic, meetings, events, culture. I attended two events last week, and will start including in-person (as well as Zoom events) in the Discovery section, so if you have any events, you’d like to feature please send them my way.
I’m vaccinated (with a Green Passport) and would love to meet in person and catch-up in the Tel Aviv area. Additionally, if you’re a growing Israeli startup and looking to hire high-skilled workers in the US let’s chat about how I can help you find that talent in Tulsa. To schedule a time to meet please respond directly to this email.

What I'm reading
Forsan Et Haec Olim Meminisse Iuvabit: Will Remembering Help or Please? One of the earliest precursors of making lemonade out of lemons, or trying to find the good in the bad is the Trojan’s time of reflection after their devastating defeat to the Greeks in the Trojan war. When looking at everything that befell them the quote’s modern interpretation is “perhaps there will come a time when you remember these troubles with a smile.”
We have all been there, where the events of the moment were so intense, we would like to forget them, but as time heals, we look back and see there are learnings in what we experienced. Though it may not have been pleasant, many times we had to go through hell to get to heaven, and become the person we’re meant to be. Or is it better to leave that difficult time in the past, and not reflect, as bringing up those memories are too painful? This is still a debate up until this day.
Collectively with COVID (at least in some parts of the world) ebbing and life starting to return to normal, will we reflect on these times and see them as a time of being challenged, and of overcoming and growing? Or will we just put it behind us as a past experience, and try and forget the whole ordeal.
Key Takeaways:
⚪️ Everything is fodder for the fire: It’s how to interpret life’s experiences, whether good or bad.
⚪️ Sometimes it is hard to find the positive: But we must try to see the light during the darkest night.
⚪️ The importance of an inner locus of control: We’re going to get rocked by events around us, many of which we can’t control… what we can control is our inner world.
