Thank you, Jovita

Thank you, Jovita
By Jewel Wicker • Issue #23 • View online

AABJ mourns the passing of @wsbtv anchor Jovita Moore and sends our condolences to her friends, family and co-workers.

She will be missed by many.
I don’t really have much to say today, nor do I have any desire to take away from the meaningful words of those who personally and intimately knew and loved Jovita Moore.
Mostly, I just want to say thank you to an Atlanta media legend who has been an inspiration to me since I decided I wanted to study journalism. Her impact on young Black women who aspired to work in this industry in Atlanta and beyond cannot be understated. She exemplified the grace, kindness and curiosity we should all strive to have in this industry.

Girl, I’m sitting here watching this WSB tribute to her in tears.

From the time I officially changed my major to journalism, Jovita has been at that desk. She’s been the face of TV news here in Atlanta for most of my adult life. What a loss. A true Atlanta icon.
