Speaking of Rich Roll...

I love talking with ultra athlete, author, and plant-powered podcaster Rich Roll because he’s a genuinely curious person, someone who seeks to raise other people up and become a better, more informed person with every conversation. I have had the rare privilege of appearing on the wildly popular Rich Roll podcast twice, once to talk about my first book, The Gift of Failure, and once to talk about The Addiction Inoculation.
Rich is in recovery, something he talks about both on the podcast and in his book, Finding Ultra, and he loves to chat to other people about the nature of addiction and what it takes to achieve sobriety and long-term recovery. To that end, he’s interviewed so many cool people in the addiction and recovery world, including Dr. Gabor Maté, Charlie Engle, Dr. Anna Lembke, Dan Peres, David Choe, Dr. Jud Brewer, Amy Dresner, Jeff Grant, and Mishka Shubaly.
Last week, Rich released an addiction and recovery masterclass, a fascinating and helpful resource cobbled together from the best bits of all these conversations.
In Rich’s words, “My hope is that these stories bring you greater understanding, empathy, and perhaps a modicum of peace—and for those currently suffering, tools and encouragement to finally arrest the beast and embrace help.”
I’m so grateful to be a part of this masterclass, and I hope you find it both inspiring and useful.
The masterclass is available with video at YouTube, and in audio at Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

The more we talk about substance use disorder, the easier it becomes. The easier it becomes, the more people will feel emboldened to ask for help.
