Weekly curated #cryptocurrency news and commentary.

Welcome to The Block. I’m Jeremiah Lewis, crypto-enthusiast and early adopter. This is a weekly email digest comprising one or two short topical essays followed by a manageable collection of curated links.
If you know anyone who’d be interested in this kind of content, forward this email, or they can subscribe here. I love feedback, so don’t hesitate to email me.

The subject line is Yeats, but I was thinking about Joan Didion, about her observations of the rumbling and encroaching chaos of San Francisco and America in the 1960s, but the sentiment seems to apply to crypto as well. The war is being waged as we speak. There is only room for it to go one way or another–it cannot stay stagnant. The nostalgia of the heady, libertarian (and libertine) days makes way for the fears and uncertainties of a marketplace rife with tension, greed, fear, and doubt.
Bears are out for blood, and bulls are being pushed to the fences. The noose of regulation and government intervention tightens. The circle of innovation seems to be closing as well. Will 2018 be the year cryptocurrency dies, or just the year that it dies yet again?
Next week I’ll be supplying you with a guide to buying your first cryptocurrency. Until then, read the news (especially the link roundup below!), ponder the signs, and wait. We live in interesting times.
