Weekly curated #cryptocurrency news and commentary.

Welcome to The Block. I’m Jeremiah Lewis, crypto-enthusiast and early adopter. This is a twice-weekly email digest comprising one or two short topical essays followed by a manageable collection of curated links.
If you know anyone who’d be interested in this kind of content, forward this email, or they can subscribe here. I love feedback, so don’t hesitate to email me.

Slow Thought
Unlike some weekends, this was mostly quiet on the crypto newsfront. No major market movements, though last week saw some serious turbulence, stimulated in part by SEC rulings on ICOs and exchanges, Mt. Gox selling off a huge chunk of Bitcoin holdings, Binance getting hacked, and ongoing speculation about the role of regulation.
But, with the bad comes the good. A Bitcoin “Misery Index” predicts price of $20,000 per Bitcoin sometime this year, and the Mt. Gox selloff is now paused until September, so bulls are itching to break through $10,000 again. And China admitted that cryptocurrency was eventually going to overtake fiat.
What will this week bring? We’re not sure, since crypto is like a dinosaur you clone and try to control with electric fences–nature finds a way to break free.

Contrary Views
I like to present multiple sides to cryptocurrency. For one, it’s vital to have opposing views from my own or yours, not just to stir interesting research and discussion but also to help the crypto-fans check themselves periodically. It’s one thing to be a fan and a follower, it’s another to be a “true believer” who brooks no dissent or opposition. So, here are a few contrary views, which you may not agree with, but I still believe they warrant reading and considering.
