Jeff Howardz | facts of my existence

Weekly digest of things I find interesting, useful, funny, thought provoking or absurd... mixed with some wise ass short observations of my own.

“Who is wise? He that learns from everyone. Who is powerful? He that governs his passions. Who is rich? He that is content. Who is that? Nobody.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

To Steal or Not to Steal
Most friends know I love a good heist movie. Nothing quite like evil villains outsmarting pretentious assholes to get the best of them. Here is a list from IMDB.
I’ve only seen four of these - viewing party anyone?
Total Eclipse of the Heart
If you haven’t heard there is going to be a total solar eclipse on August 21st. The path of the sun will sweep across the southeast during the early afternoon (around 2:30).
Here is a simulator where you can see what it might look like from where you are (type your location in the top box and then move the slider)
Tacos vs. Burritos
Every statistic you ever wanted to know about Mexican restaurants, tacos, and burritos including:
  • Cities with the most non-chain Mexican restaurants
  • Ratio of tacos to burritos on menus in each city
  • Most authentic Mexican restaurants per capita (My home Marietta, GA comes in 4th with 2.5 per 10,000 residents, boo yeah!)
If she only knew
Dannan: “Life is hard!”
Me: “What do you know about life being hard?”
Dannan: “Duh! I’ve known that for like 5 years.”
Me: “What is hard about your life?”
Dannan: “The Pacer test.” (This is a physical fitness test given to all elementary school kids each year.)
More One Liners
  • I have an EpiPen. My friend gave it to me when he was dying, it seemed very important to him that I have it.
  • What do you call a Frenchman wearing sandals? Phillipe Phillop.
  • This is my step ladder. I never knew my real ladder.
  • I have the heart of a lion and a lifetime ban from the Atlanta Zoo.
May the wind blow you home,
