1. West Coast Winter Conference
From January 1-5 RUFs from Idaho, Washington, California, Arizona, West Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado will join together for the FIRST EVER West Coast Conference. It will be a week of worship, seminars on various practical and Biblical topics, and preaching. We are so excited to report back (with pictures, of course!) on how God works! Pray for students to be stretched by our seminars and encouraged by the gospel!
2. Spring Welcome Week
Each spring semester we welcome students - those who are coming back and those who are beginning their college experience. During the week of January 12-19 we have opportunities to connect with students. Would you pray for the following?
Sunday 12 - Welcome Back Social
Tuesday 14 - First Spring Semester Large Group
Wednesday 15 - First Lunch in the Student Union Building
Friday 17 - RUF Game Night
Sunday 19 - Pray for students to come to Boise Pres!
3. Wives Weekend in Nashville
Each January over MLK Weekend, RUF hosts a weekend of refreshment and training for the wives of RUF campus ministers. It changes location year to year and this year Bet will be traveling to Nashville, TN! I am so grateful that RUF sees the fullness of our ministry and seeks to serve our wives. If you would like to donate to help with the costs associated with Bet’s training, you can give here: https://givetoruf.org/donate/boisestate
and make sure to email me at email@example.com that you gave toward her training - we would love to know that you gave specifically toward that! Pray for
uninterrupted and safe travel for Bet, for refreshment for her body and soul, and for her time reconnecting with friends. Pray for
Laine, Remy, and Breck as they will be missing their mommy for the weekend and pray for
Jay as he juggles RUF events and the kiddos!
4. Spring Semester Teaching
This spring I will be teaching on Emotions during Large Group prior to spring break. Generally, we teach through a book (or part of a book) of the Bible, but there are certain topics (like dating and relationships, for example) that we like to cover. I will be looking at the beauty and the brokenness of our emotions and point our students back to the sufficiency of the gospel in the scriptures as we understand how we are built. Pray for students to be open to look inside themselves, pray for our staff as we counsel students, and pray for us to connect our students with mentors, counselors, and churches as they consider their emotional health.
I will also be teaching a couple of seminars during the semester: How to Read the Bible and What is Reformed Theology? Pray that we can schedule these well so that students can come and for me to be sustained with a full schedule!
5. Leadership Training
This spring we will be inviting freshmen to join our RUF Ministry Team and we will continue to train and develop our leaders. Pray that God would bring us students that are excited about the gospel and growing in their understanding and application of what personal, church, and outreach ministry looks like. Pray for our existing leaders as they welcome freshmen and continue to serve faithfully.
