This week I wanted to tell you about a few useful things I’ve come across whilst also giving a quick update on a new project I’m working on. 🛠 Let’s go straight in!

😁 Having Fun = Productivity

Productivity hacks are completely redundant once you find something that you truly enjoy and have fun doing it. Once at this point, productivity takes care of itself and you don’t need to worry about your efficiency or output.

Cambridge Medicine graduate, NHS Doctor and productivity guru Ali Abdaal talks all about it in his YouTube video The Best Productivity Hacks of All Time.

I’m a big fan of Ali’s work and have the utmost respect for him building a multi-million pound business whilst working as an NHS Doctor. 👏🏼 I would 100% recommend you check out his content.

💸 RCKit for RevenueCat

RevenueCat is the most popular in-app purchase and subscriptions platform for developers building mobile apps on iOS. It provides an easy-to-use wrapper around Apple’s rather convoluted monetisation method.

RCKit is an awesome app for iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS (🤯) that presents RevenueCat data in a succinct manner. The iOS app also has home screen widgets and push notifications making it super convenient to keep track of your in-app purchases and subscriptions.

These are undoubtedly my favourite notifications to wake up to! 💰

I would 100% recommend RCKit (and RevenueCat) to any iOS devs out there looking for a subscriptions platform. 👌🏻

🍎 New App Store Marketing Tools

After the Apple Event on 14th September, Apple released a new tool to promote your apps on the App Store - App Store Promote Tool.

The tool makes it super-easy to create really nice promotional assets for your apps. Whether it be for a new release, existing app update, or price offer, this tool is really cool. 😎

It’s certainly a godsend for anyone with distinctly average graphic design skills like me! 😂

📱 App Store Optimisation

It’s all well and good building an awesome app, but if nobody can find it then it’s sort of a waste of time. 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is where ASO (App Store Optimisation) comes in. 👊🏻 Similar to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) for the web, the goal of ASO is to drive traffic to your App Store listing and increase the conversion rate. 📲

I didn’t appreciate the complexity of ASO until I started watching Steve P. Young on App Masters. Steve creates some awesome FREE content to help you optimise your App Store listing along with other growth hacking strategies. I’d definitely recommend checking out his YouTube channel.

📸 New Project - EXIFixer

Lastly, I wanted to mention a new iOS app I’ve been working on. It’s a super simple idea to intelligently ‘fix’ EXIF meta-data of photos in your photo library. 📷

The use-case is for people who take photos on both their iPhone and DSLR (or other camera). Once the DSLR photos are imported into their photo library, it’s often the case that they are missing geolocation data. 📍

I want to build an app that intelligently suggests EXIF data based on other photos in the user’s photo library. It’s early days but I’ve made good progress so far and hope to have it on the App Store in a few weeks. 👊🏻
