Heading into March. This week I will travel to Austin to attend SXSW for the 7th time. This time I will be joined by 3 colleagues. Melanie will be in the panel in the main program on Wednesday 13 March on truly inclusive cities Jann co-organised, and Sebastian will moderate a workshop in the New Dutch Wave house on Monday 11 March, we organised together. I still have to dive into the huge program but I’m looking forward again. I will definitely select first and foremost the sessions on automation, robotics and cities. And keep you posted.
Last month I worked on the first iteration of the description on predictive relations, the central concept the PhD research is covering within the design for things that take initiative. I will organise a workshop with design practitioners to verify the relevancy and questions on this topic next Month.
Next to this thinking and writing I was invited to do a couple of workshops/presentations. At the Master Research Day of Industrial Design Engineering, I introduced our Cities of Things lab with about 60 master students and it was great fun to hear their discussions.
Media Perspectives invited me for a masterclass in the Talent Development Program they organise. I introduced IoT, things that have agency and things as citizens, also ending with the same discussions. Super nice to have a different view point from media focused people.
Apart from that Social Enterprise NL and SIDN invited me to discuss on tech for good, and I had 4 students discussing potential graduation projects. Tijn is already started. We discussed the next ThingsCon activities and welcomed Pieter and Ashlee to the Dutch board.
