Expert Systems: A New Way to Ask Wolfram|Alpha Questions with Math Input - Wolfram Alpha - Link
I love Wolfram Alpha. It’s the closest thing we have to the AI systems that sci-fi stories set in the future often have. You can ask it almost anything in natural language text and get good answers. It’s free with a paid tier to get priority processing power for your questions. I subscribe just because it’s so good. They added the ability to enter maths in standard textbook forms over the summer. It’s fantastic 😊
Podcast: New In Tech - 451 Research - Link
I recently discovered the New In Tech podcast from 451 Research. It’s fantastic. If you are in IT, you should give it a try.
Machine Learning: AlphaFold 2 is here: what’s behind the structure prediction miracle - Oxford Protein Informatics Group - Link
A deep dive (pun intended) into the paper outlining the Deepmind AlphaFold 2 system used to predict protein shape from an amino acid sequence. While AlphaFold 2 is a great asset in this area, the author doesn’t think there is a huge breakthrough. Rather the success is due to the computing power and the expertise in machine learning systems in Deepmind. Which is not to diss that expertise. AlphaFold 2 is a marvel.

Newsletter: Threads by Chris Hlad - Chris Hlad - Link
I’m going all meta here and recommending another Revue Newsletter: Threads by Chris Hlad. It’s a newsletter version of Twitter Threads he does. For example, this one on Jerry Seinfeld’s writing system. The latest one is on 10 ideas that will change how you think about joy, judgment, and networking.
