The other day I might, possibly maybe, have pulled the trigger on digital distribution of Magick, Music and Ritual 1 hoping that it would start showing up in all the digital shops in plenty of time for the 10 year anniversary in December.
Today, just this morning, it has started to appear on all the digital streaming platforms and shops. So far I’ve noticed it on
iTunes,
YouTube, and
Amazon, and I’m sure there’s others. It doesn’t appear to be on Spotify or Tidal yet. I don’t really check any of the others, but if there’s a popular one you use and notice it available, let me know.
Until today,
Magick, Music and Ritual 12, which was a super duper special issue, having 4 hours of content, for the 20th anniversary of the library, was the only issue that I’d released to all the platforms.
So, why now? Well, pretty much a confluence of things: I’m coming to the deadline for submissions for MMR16, and recently I’d noticed that this December will be the 10th year of doing these anthologies! Wild! Also, it’s the 25th year of the library being online, so it’s, you know, the silver anniversary year for the site!
As another aside, you’ll notice I had to create a cover for distribution without the library’s domain name. Including URLs on covers is one of the verboten things, so I just removed it. I had to dig through actual storage boxes to find a backup hard drive which had the original cover art I created, because, I, um, was keeping it in a safe place, apparently. In hindsight, as it’s already too late to make changes, I might have put in “Yule 2011” or something instead, but it is what it is now.
Also, part of what made this happen is that a rare event occurred: I just randomly got paid a whole $50 which took 2 years to accumulate from all the services streaming and selling MMR12. Welp, that’s pretty much exactly what it costs to pay to get an album distributed … with a buck left over for video games, or something.
Convenient! Kismet! Party like it’s 2011!
