This week's news about voice computing apps, delivered directly to your inbox.

“In the new era, thought itself will be transmitted by radio.”
- Guglielmo Marconi, inventor of radio (arguably its inventor, depending on if you’re a Tesla fan)
“In the current era, this newsletter will be transmitted by you forwarding it to just 3 people you think would like it.”
- Me, inventor of this newsletter (arguably a worthwhile read)

To Try:
> Speechboard - this is a super cool tool for podcasters – an easier way to edit your podcasts. Even if you’re not a podcaster, try their demo. You delete text from a transcript and it automatically removes that word from the audio. Pretty neat. Longer medium post from the team here.

To Read:
The Limiting Factor of Voice and Dictation Adoption - nice post by @ttunguz from Red Point. He might be my hero in terms of voice-based productivity hacks (“When I speak the command ‘publish blog post,’ the computer executes a shell script which does four things.”)
Industry Newz:
Voysis Raises $8 Million- Raised from Polaris ventures. Voysis makes websites voice-enabled (starting w/e-commerce, entertainment, automotive, and travel).  There’s an example of their voice synthesis here. It’s good, although not sure I agree that it’s “indistinguishable from a human’s.” But decide for yourself.
For Devz:
> Help users find, interact & re-engage with your app on the Google Assistant - Some cool new features from Google for developers, E.g., Speaker to phone transfer, “Implicity Discovery” (instead of asking for your app directly, they say “book an appointment to fix my bike” and your service could be invoked, and account linking in conversation, to name a few.
Hiring:
> Volley is hiring for 4 jobs we are looking for right now: PM/Game design, Javascript Software Engineer for Voice games, Head of Content/Creative Director, and Growth/Marketing Analyst
Thanks for reading this week, have a great weekend!
