Grant's Newsletter (Kerfuffle, Genomics, DAOs)

Happy Friday!
Here are 3 things on my mind this week:

1. Stripe/Plaid Kerfuffle
There was some drama in the tech world last week.
In short, Stripe announced a new product, and a competitor (Plaid) accused Stripe of “less-than-upstanding dealings.”
I’m not here to weigh in on the drama. But, lucky for us, Stripe has a transparent culture and the company released the CEO’s internal email to address the issue.
I broke down the email with some thoughts on how Patrick Collison used clear business writing to make the best of a not-so-great situation.

Clear written communication from the CEO is a game-changer in sticky situations.

2. Algorizin's IES

3. CBCs 🤝 DAOs 🙌
I wrote a post in late 2021 explaining how cohort-based learning can help support DAOs.
DAOs were a hot topic in late 2021, and the hype has waned. However, I’ve been interacting with a number of thriving DAOs in the past few months.
I believe they are here to stay.
DAOs like Bankless, CityDAO, and 1729 are continuing to build and learn.
I think that this post holds up, and I am seeing a continued need for learning and community-building (via cohort-based courses) to support the growth of DAOs.
