Unbundling Reddit
A while ago I shared an article about how different companies are doing what AirBnb did to Craigslist. How, in other words, they are unbundling bigger companies and deducting new business models out of the smaller niches that come with a platform such as AirBnb or in the case of the article below: Reddit.
The first time the concept of unbundling was published online was in 2010 by Andrew Parker (check out that old Airbnb logo 😂). The pre-phase before a service will be unbundled is identifying these different verticals. I would argue that it’s a good source of inspiration when you’re either looking into diversifying your own product range and/or when you want to start up a business. What the different verticals that make up a Reddit have in common is that they have a proven target audience, ranging into the thousands and thousands of users. So the argument that you don’t know where your target audience is at, is void.
