Every week starts with some kind of fear of what we’ll face, the challenges that will present themselves. Well, every day, really.
There are always unknown factors that we can’t predict or loose ends that aren’t quite tied up, but your hands are tied as well, making it impossible to do the tying. Phew.
How do we handle the fear of the unknown? How do we step back and “let things happen the way they’re supposed to?” We hear that all the time, right? I’ve probably said it to you in one of these newsletters more than once.
Because to be honest, that sounds like some trite bullshit. It doesn’t do anything for your anxiety. And it sure as shit doesn’t actually get the stuff done that needs to get done.
This week, let’s take proverbial hands from across state lines, countries, and oceans and realize that we are all hot messes and we are all nervous about something, anything, everything. We’re all allowed to be afraid. Instead of trying to make it better, maybe we need to sit with that fear and let it be what it is. The point it, you’re not alone.
This week’s mantras:
- When anxiety gets the best of me, I won’t sit still. I’ll go for a walk, a jog, or clean my apartment. I will move my body.
- I will appreciate the things I have and allow myself to mourn the things I don’t have, but desperately want.
- I will allow myself to be large and loud. I won’t make myself small for the sake of other people’s comfort.
- I will love myself.
Have a great week! I love you.
