The High Five goes out every Friday morning - just in time to jump start your weekend. I'm handpicking five things I think you'll enjoy discovering, listening to, or thinking about as you head out to do great things.

Moving Pictures

New newsletter platform this week called Revue! Let me know what you think. It’s a little more intuitive than MailChimp and Squarespace and I don’t need all that horsepower.
This week’s High Five is heavy on video content and light on jibber jabber. These moving pictures all had an impact on me this week and I hope they resonate with you. Speaking of movies - I saw The Revenant a few days ago. It would have been better as a silent film, in my view, and that’s not a joke. It’s very visually stunning and DiCaprio’s moans don’t add much.
As you know, meditation has been a big theme for me in 2016. And I’ve heard from some of you that you are developing practices, too. The meat-eaters will groan but I found Rich Roll’s mindfulness journey to be pretty instructive. What’s working for you? I’d love to hear from you at and I’m happy to share “best practices” with the list.
Perspective. I hope you don’t have to fall 50 feet from a tree to get it. This video was a treat because Nalini is a relative and a remarkable person and we’re very glad she’s well. She’s always been wise but … well … listen to her and think about your own bumps and bruises and, perhaps, re-frame them. What does not destroy you …
Maybe you’ve seen the Haka performed before a rugby match featuring New Zealand’s All Blacks. Or you’ve been over at my house when I’ve just finished washing a mountain of dishes and one of the girls ambles toward the kitchen with another dirty plate. In any case, I’m betting you’ve not seen one done at a wedding. My buddy Z sent me this video earlier in the week and it was pretty stirring. If you’re thinking about getting married, do your guests a favor and sub out the Electric Slide for this war dance.
The East Coast got socked in with snow last weekend! New York City issued a travel ban. Casey Neistat had an interesting response.
And, finally, some music to soundtrack your weekend by the Savages. There’s a line in here - “I understand the urgency of life” - that has been bouncing around my head since I heard it. I’m thinking about this urgency as a rogue grey hair shoots out of my left eyebrow.
Have a great weekend,
