Happy Friday, friends! We’ve made it. It was a good week for me and I hope it was for you, too. I’m easing back into a modest level of fitness with some longer walks and even some run/walk intervals. I might even nibble on a kale leaf. Meanwhile, MK is preparing for the Chicago Marathon in a few weeks. And eating kale by the bushel. Show off!
I lost 30 pounds over the last six months and at least half of that was muscle mass. I’m feeling and looking a little frail. But not to worry, it’s just time to climb the mountain again. We keep going, don’t we, no matter what. I’m mostly looking forward to some long rides on my road bike even though the days will start to cool down soon. Let me know if you want to ride Gaines Villains! Got my first real haircut in six months yesterday and it seems like my hair is starting to thicken up. The scar on my chest where my infusion port was is healing well. One month out and I’m basically just dealing with some numbness in my hands and feet. It may or may not go away but I use the numbness as a reminder to not take anything for granted. And to eat kale. My numb fingers means it takes a little longer to button my shirts but I’ll manage.
Whatever it is you are going through, it’ll pass, and you’ll be stronger for it on the other side. Maybe even lighter! Lean on friends and family and whichever higher power you believe in to smooth out the rough spots. I’m happy to be back and sharing these mornings with you - it’s a highlight and I love hearing from you, too. Please spare a thought for Puerto Rico today - there is tremendous suffering there - and check out the first link below.
Cheers,
Gary
