Hi there,
There are now quite a few of us who have contributed, or are due to contribute, to the Fun with bells podcast, so I thought you might be interested in what is happening in the countdown to launching.

The interviews
Already recorded:
Nic Boyd - A ‘new’ ringer who has completed ART levels 1-5
David Smith - CCCBR executive member based in Australia
Emily Hall - who set up the Derbyshire young ringers and is passionate about striking competitions
Being recorded this week:
Diane Smith - a Ringing remembers recruit
Pip Penney - Creator of the ART scheme, who will be starting our ‘Ask the expert’ section
There are 5 more interviews booked and 2 who I am waiting to firm up dates with.
Others helping
Big shoutout here to Lesley Belcher, ART chairman who has enabled my crazy idea to take off - mostly by putting me in contact with many of the rest of you.
Also to Nic Boyd, who has been my patient guinea pig and mentor.
Sue Hall, who created the fabulous logo.
Sam Bolingbroke who is setting up the website… coming soon.
Tim Willetts and others from the Handbells of Great Britain society, who forwarded my request for interviewees - 2 are coming up
Rob Thatcher - who provided my first bell recording to play with
David Richards - for providing a recording of Great St Mary’s Cambridge
Roger Booth and Andrew Booth - for putting up with me going on incessantly about the podcast.
Also needed
People to carry out the following functions:
  • technical quality control of each episode
  • devise a marketing strategy
  • promote each episode on social media
Launch date
We are currently scheduled to launch on 28th February with 3 episodes followed by a release on a weekly basis. I’m hoping to create a trailer and teasers to go out beforehand.
Interviewees to note
In one of my interviews so far, I had a really interesting conversation but the audio quality was poor. I will not continue with an interview in future where the interviewee is only using their computer’s built in microphone. Please take note of the microphone requirements and, if you want to sound really good, then beg, borrow or steal (well maybe not steal) a decent microphone. Rant over - thank you.
Next newsletter
I’m hoping to issue another short email like this one next week. Thanks, everyone!
Did you enjoy this issue?
