While I’m still investigating which tool would be the best to publish this newsletter with a fully customized design, Fresh Fonts is getting a little makeover. We are also starting the development of our new website, which as promised, will include a searchable archive of all the typefaces ever featured in the newsletter. Hang on tight! ✌🏼– Noemi

Apoc(alypse) 2.0 (variable)
Blaze Type is working on a massive update of their bestselling Apoc(alypse) typeface. The extended family will come in six weights, from Hairline to Dark, with several new alternates, and a variable font version with two axes of variation (weight and italics). The release is expected later this year, and will be free for the current licensees of the family pack, so if Apoc is still on your wishlist, right now is the best moment to get it 😏

A Gothic by Radim Peško
Freshly released by Radim Peško, A Gothic is a contemporary sans serif with early 20th century vibes. It comes in two weights (Regular and Bold) with their italics, but more importantly, it is complemented by AA Gothic, its display sister family with deep-cut ink traps. A Gothic and AA Gothic both support Latin, Cyrillic and Greek.

Romie by Margot Lévêque
Paris-based designer Margot Lévêque is behind this serif that draws its inspiration from the sixties fashion period. The typeface comes in a single style, Regular, and was optimized for both text and display use. It was also recently updated with gorgeous ligatures. Romie is now available for purchase, to do so just send an email to Margot at lvq.margot@gmail.com.

Kono by London Type Foundry
Kono is the latest creation of Eiichi Kono, whose work you must be familiar with if you’ve ever set foot in London – he designed New Johnston, the typeface in use across the city’s entire public transport system (based off the design of Johnston, 1916). Originally designed for the Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, this new release, which carries his name, is a clean, modern and highly legible sans serif in seven styles.

Dejanire by ReType Foundry
The foundry who brought us the beautiful Guyot typeface is back with Dejanire, a type system in two subfamilies: Dejanire Headline, a display serif inspired by an anonymous work published in Paris in 1742, and Dejanire Sans. Both subfamilies cover six weights, from Light to Black, and include seven different sets of numerals, small caps, arrows, decorative fleurons and a lot more.

Supergravity by Hungarumlaut
Adam Katyi just released Supergravity, a display sans inspired by Hungarian posters from the early 20th century. Perfect to set tight and create striking visual effects, it features extracondensed letters, super short descenders and non-horizontal terminals (most visible in the ‘A’ and ‘W’). But my favourite part remains its backslanted style.
