Faction
Designed by Shiva Nallaperumal and published by Lost Type, Faction is a bold display typeface available in two styles: Black and Outline. The www ligature is perhaps my favorite part, but I could spend hours admiring the shapes of Faction. The black and white minisite is pretty neat, too.

Jaroslav
With its original shapes, Jaroslav was designed as a reaction to the exaggerated unification of sans-serif letterforms. Published by Czech foundry Suitcase, the family is made up of five weights ranging from Light to Bold. The typeface is also available to rent on Fontstand. Currently 50% off.

Beckett (New Styles)
Originally designed for the book covers of Samuel Beckett Complete Works in 2009, Beckett is characterized by a hard edge that creates immediate impact. The typeface was adjusted and new styles were added, now making it available in 11 weights, from Extralight to Heavy.

Isotonic
Emtype’s latest release is a close relative of Ciutadella, but slightly more condensed. Although it’s not strictly a text font, Isotonic works surprisingly well in body sizes and screens. The family consists of 5 weights (Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold and Bold) plus italics. It supports both Central and Eastern European languages. Currently 50% off.

Rosella
Designed by Sabina Chipară while on an internship at Monotype, Rosella is a decorative typeface influenced by engraved letterings from the end of the 19th century. It comes in six weights, including a solid version and five different patterns. The all-caps typeface looks great at large sizes, since it emphasizes its detailing even further. Currently 75% off the complete family pack.

Bega
Also designed by Sabina Chipară, this time together with studio partner Diana Ovezea, Bega is a simplified sans serif typeface. Its lack of spurs is most visible on the top-left corners of letters like m, n, and r. The family includes 8 weights, ranging from Thin to Black, for a total of 16 styles.

Neoneon
I just finished the second season of Stranger Things, leaving me craving for more design inspired by the 1980s. Luckily, Barcelona-based Bakoom Studio launched Neoneon, a neon style typeface that works best when glowed out in Photoshop. The studio’s first type release is great for titles and headlines. Free for personal and commercial use (with attribution).

The new corporate typeface of IBM, Plex, is open source. Designed by Bold Monday, the family comprises sans-serif, serif and monospace styles, each available in eight weights with italics. Condensed and several non-Latin script versions will also be added in the future.
