Swiss foundry Grilli Type just released Super, a new typeface designed by Noël Leu, inspired by different high-contrast display serifs from the 1970s and 1980s. Super is available in two subfamilies: Text and Display, for a consistent type system of 20 styles, including italics. The foundry also created a minisite for the typeface, on which you can learn more about its design process, and download free trial fonts.
Fontsmith launched Industrie, a new adaptive type system designed around five different widths and seven different weights, for a total of 70 styles, including italics. Inspired by classic German fonts from the 1930s, Industrie has a precise and direct feel, without sacrificing its humanity.
Because love is in the details, the foundry also created a limited set of 1,000 personalized specimens, with the name of each recipient spelled out via laser cut apertures into the front cover (pictured above).
The Indian Type Foundry’s latest release is a sans designed in the neo-grotesk style. While the typeface features a tall x-height, the balanced proportions of its letterforms give it maximum flexibility. Neurial Grotesk comes in five weights, from Light to Bold, with matching italics. An excellent selection for use in branding and corporate design.
The newest release of Black Foundry, Angus, is an original take on the rounded genre, both friendly and clean enough to be used in a wide kind of contexts. With its condensed proportions and monospaced look, the typeface brings balance between roundness and straightness. Note that you can also rent Angus on Fontstand, just like all typefaces by Black Foundry.
The foundry of Los Angeles design studio Abstract Office is now open for business! On their new website (pictured above) you can try and buy three of their typefaces: Reynaldo, a slab-serif also available in left-leaning italics, McBean, a rounded typeface in two versions, and Anomique, my favorite, a revival of the three original weights of Île-de-France.

Bruta Types is the new foundry of Barcelona-based designer Estela Ibarz, and you know how fond I am of female-founded foundries. Her first release, Trash, is a typeface with extreme stroke contrast, exploring the limits of right and wrong in type design. Trash also works well at small text sizes, maintaining its structure and appearance. Available in five weights, from Light to Black.
Fort Foundry launched a new website, and with it, a new typeface. Imbued with Victorian charm, Shackleton is a call for adventure. The typeface was named after Sir Ernest Shackleton, a British polar explorer best known for his attempt to cross Antartica from sea to sea, via the South Pole, in 1914. His expedition failed when his ship was crushed in pack ice, forcing him and his crew to travel 720 nautical miles (1,333 km) on lifeboats, until they reached the inhabited island of South Georgia. Spanish foundry Atipo released Musetta, an elegant and audacious display font. Available in a single style, the capital-only font also features superiors and ordinals, and a few stylistic alternates, such as another ampersand. Musetta is therefore a great option if you need to create distinctive titles. Pay what you want for personal and commercial use.
Velvetyne released a new version of Lack, making it available in Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts. Designed by Adrien Midzic, Lack comes in a single weight, with matching italics. However, it now includes three different stylistic sets, and its legibility was optimized, making the display font equally suitable for use at text sizes. Free for personal and commercial use.
