“As a technologist, I see how AI and the fourth industrial revolution will impact every aspect of people’s lives.”
– Fei-Fei Li, Professor Department of Computer Science at Stanford University

Many of the articles featured in the AI Health Frontier are about how AI technology can outperform (or perform on par with) humans in skills and experience. Even in this issue, we’ll see how AI can diagnose epilepsy and intracranial hemorrhage.
But what’s often overlooked, is how AI cannot only outperform human capabilities, but add value in a truly new way. Like ‘DeepRay’, which is able to sharpen images to an extent that it could potentially outperform the human eye. Or Nvidia, whose technology is able to create ‘fake faces’ using AI, which are indistinguishable from real faces.
Still, what’s most interesting is not what we can do today, it’s the potential for tomorrow. I wish all of you the best in 2019 and I’m excited to together see what AI will bring us.
