As we turn 11, a big part of our activities are starting to evolve around product-as-a-service, a key foundation for a circular economy. We attended Beyond Next, where Philips CEO, Frans van Houten made the following comment on its importance to Philips.
“We design for a sustainable and healthy world. Just producing and selling electronics is not that interesting to us. Our customer relationship is going to change completely; You will pay us for the benefits that we provide. If we extend the lifetime of our products, the consumer will benefit, the planet will benefit, and we will benefit. We are 15% circular now, and by 2020 all big medical equipment will return to us. By 2025 we will take all our products back This is a systemic change. Retailers need to be part of it. Consumers need to become aware. Governments need to regulate.”
We are very excited to be part of the movement that Philips is spearheading!
