It’s been a busy two weeks at Finding Alt HQ – busy, in that I was camping last weekend and navigating the last few days of the school year. I did keep the blog updated but missed a newsletter. Apologies. Consider this one of those double issues magazines do in the summer.
Lots of turnover on the June 19 countdown with seven songs new or returning. All of that turnover knocked The Neighbourhood and “Stargazing” off the Alt18 after a six-month run. Glass Animals repeated at No. 1 with “Space Ghost Coast to Coast.” Look for Modest Mouse or Sir Sly to takeover the top spot in the next week or two.
Olivia Rodrigo ended up on the June 12 countdown with her summer banger “good 4 u.” It dropped off the next, so it remains unclear if she’s an Alt18 band or in some other pop stratosphere.
