The end of an era? DiscoverPods, a terrific content hub known once for its strong opinions, detailed explanations, and thoughtful reviews, is changing. Kevin Goldberg announced on LinkedIn that he has sold his majority stake in DiscoverPods.
PodChaser reports that Podcast Taxonomy, the international, multidisciplinary collaborative standard for recognizing roles and credits in podcast production, has released an update to its podcast credits taxonomy featuring new roles, a board of directors, and more.
PodNews trolls Elon Musk in a really interesting way: “Twitter, which was planning some form of podcast integration, has been bought by Elon Musk for $44bn. Musk is the world’s richest man, and also owns an electric car company, a space exploration and communications corporation, a tunnel construction company, an artificial intelligence research laboratory, and a company making silicon chips that can be implanted in your brain, yet inexplicably doesn’t appear in this list.”
Substack improved its podcast player in its iOS app, with a full-screen podcast player, speed controls, accessible playback options and a customisable ‘playing next’ queue.
Storytelling for Activists from Radio Boot Camp is this Sunday, May 1. Jennifer Johnson Avril (Housing Works, ACT UP NY) will lead a workshop on activist-made media, how to apply organizing tactics to storytelling, and communication for movement building. $75 registration.
The latest Outlier Podcast Festival will take place May 5-6 in Austin. Founded by Ever Gonzalez (OutlierHQ) and Arielle Nissenblatt (EarBuds Podcast Collective), the conference is an opportunity for “outliers” to collaborate with indies and giants. Sliding registration starts at $30.
