Original Comic Art Tips
Hi everybody and welcome to the 18th issue of Original Comic Art Tips! nothing big happened last week, this week don’t forget to bid on the ComicLink Auction ending tomorrow, prices are still very low… we’ll see what happens in next week’s newsletter.
The nice Tony Daniel Batman pages like this one all sold for very low sums on eBay, it happens when you put many pages for sale at the same time. On Heritage, the usual Tower Records Batman page by Neal Adams sold for $3.100 and the Dave Stevens Rocketeer original illustration for $3.800.

This week on eBay
John Byrne - Namor Original Art
Many nice Comic Art pieces on eBay this week! I can only show you a few but do a quick tour if you can. Let’s start with Marvel Comics and John Buscema with a page from Namor. Another great Namor page from Alpha Flight, this time by John Byrne and a Patrick Zircher splash with Iron Man. I like this busy Ultimates page by Bryan Hitch that seems set in Italy, and with another Hitch piece, a Batman cover, we enter into DC Comics Original Art. Many nice Don Newton Batman Pages as usual and many World’s Finest Originals by Dick Dillin (see seller’s other items). Another Superman/Batman original, this time a double splash by Carlos Pacheco.
Sadly I found no interesting syndicated strips, so we can close the eBay section with a Batman page by David Finch and a Flash original by Carmine Infantino.
Heritage Sunday Auction
Yogi Bear Original Comic Art
Here’s another Adams/Giordano Batman Record original art page, they’re probably selling the entire comic one page a week. Sunday Auction Regular Alan Davis is represented with a beautifully drawn Excalibur page. A nice surprise is this unfinished NSFW Adam Hughes illustration.
I don’t see a Harvey Eisenberg Yogi Bear Sunday page often, less rare but always beautiful are Steve Canyon originals by Milton Caniff.
Galerie Moderne
Franquin - Gaston Lagaffe Original Comic Art
Another French Auction House this week with a small group of 100 originals for sale. Many of the classic BD characters are represented: Lucky Luke by Morris in a color illustration, a great illustration of Gaston by Franquin, a nice page by William Vance and an illustration by Hermann. One of the biggest pieces is this original art drawn by Albert Uderzo just before co-creating Asterix in 1959.
See you next week, we’ll look at ComicLink results and we’ll dig into Heritage’s February Comic Art Auction!
