// Hello, welcome to main/menu, a weekly newsletter about video games. Every Friday, Fanbyte Social Editor+ Nicholas Grayson will hand deliver a bunch of words about the intersection between games and culture to your inbox. If you have questions or comments, you can hit me at niki@fanbyte.com.
Okay, time to do the newsletter! //

Start Up
Happy Friday! We’ve made it another week on this hell orb. Very proud of all of you. A lot of the Fanbyte staff (and me! and my friends and family!) got vaccinated this week so even though I’m exhausted, I’m kinda riding a little bit of a high. It rips that the vaccine is getting into arms so quickly. Please get the vaccine if you are medically able! If you are medically able and aren’t gonna get the vaccine, you can fuck off!
Anyway, let’s start the newsletter!
The Link Zone, sponsored by The Legend of Farfield: A Firelink to the Past (formerly known as "Now Playing")
Enormous thanks to The Legend of Farfield: A Firelink to the Past for sponsoring this week’s edition of The Link Zone. You can catch TLOF:AFTTP on the (NEWLY PARTNEREDDDDD) Fanbyte Twitch channel.
This week on Fanbyte, Steven Strom and the rest of the editorial team went hard on Monster Hunter Rise stuff. We have guides, features, and trending pieces about the game, so check out the hub so you can get your lizard killing fix.
Monster Hunter World
If killing big animals isn’t for you, then you should check out Kenneth’s feature this week on mystery games! He interviewed the devs of indie darling Paradise Killer, too!
Cold Cases: On Framing, Freedom, and Failure in Mystery Games

It’s good that the boat is stuck. Fuck Mitch O'Farrell, a coward who sits on the LA City Council and is working with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti to violently displace a community in Echo Park.

Did you see this video of the Halo: Infinite team making sound effects for the game? It whips. Watch the whole thing you WON’T BELIEVE HOW IT ENDS.
