How do you handle emails? How good are you at having inbox zero?
Personally, I have used emails for a long time, and have tried to always improve my control over the emails, and always tried to reach inbox zero and handle all the tasks that are required. I also have multiple email addresses for different purposes, and I use mutt
for most of them because it’s much faster for me to handle all the emails I receive just using the keyboards and using vim to write them.
I also use some of the tricks that the article was mentioning. Email has never been “push” for me (since a very long time), I almost never receive a notification when an email arrives, I instead work on something, and every now and then I check if there are some important tasks that I need to handle.
I think this also (again) comes back to the difference between makers and managers. If you are a manager all you do is to handle meetings, decisions, and emails, while makers need a long period of time when they need to be concentrated on a specific problem and solve it, without any distraction during that time. I am still a maker, so I handle my email when I decide to spend time on it, and that depends according to what I need to do a specific day.
