The Smart Home is the battleground

Over the weekend I caught the Google Home & Walmart ads pimping services to compete with Amazon Echo. Both Google and Walmart need to just get it over with and merge because the Amazon train ain’t stopping. This is interesting to watch because I’ve heard rumors that Walmart cuts ties with suppliers that store anything related to Walmart in AWS and now Google is yanking YouTube off the new Amazon Show device. But Amazon isn’t going to bend over, no, they are refusing to sell new generation Nest devices which are owned by Google. This is the gift that keeps on giving. Both sides of this will continue to dig deeper divides between services which could be bad for consumers. If an OEM can find a way to bridge the gap, they will win…. but that’s not our reality.
