This piece is a great introduction to Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical on Americanism. It provides some useful historical context as well. And my goodness if this all doesn’t apply in a major way to the present day.
This past Friday was the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the encyclical Annum Sacrum, Pope Leo XIII added this feast to the liturgical calendar. A good, short read to help us better understand this feast.
I have no idea where Mediatrix Press found this book to reprint, but it’s a treasure. Now I haven’t finished it yet, but so far I have found it exceedingly edifying.
If you find someone who says that the Church only ever promoted dry doctrines, and didn’t concern Herself with one’s personal relationship with Christ, give him this book. Love for souls drips off of every page.
