I'm alive!

Hi! I’m alive, hi alive, I’m Eva? I’m making games again! I was in a bit of a mental health slump and couldn’t make games for a while there. It’s going to be a while before I can get back to work on Lizzi, so to warm up and try to find the fun again I’ve been working on new things!

First of all I released a game! You can play it here. It’s called Ponguin and it was made for Summer Santa jam, which was hosted by my friend Kya! My giftee requested penguins and castles.

It kinda plays like Pong meets Splatoon, or graffiti mode in Tony Hawk. Hitting the puck paints the floor your color, and the penguins that walk around the arena do too. You can knock the penguins down with the puck as well, but don’t worry about them, they just gently fall to the side and respawn. To be honest I have no idea if the game is fun at all, I haven’t actually tried playing it with anyone! Please let me know how it is if you manage to try it though! :)
Concept image for Ponguin created moments before my phone was stolen! A little MOBA like.

I also started working on something new, or at least I’m thinking about something new! I don’t think anyone is using the name Snake, so let’s just call it that for now :)
Snake is a game inspired by Snake. It’s a co-op 2D platformer, where one player controls a snake and the other player controls a human.
I'm a big fan of asymmetric co-op!

I’m aiming for something smaller in scope than Lizzi, but way bigger than a jam game. And I’ll be planning stuff this time instead of just jumping into code. Not like, boring design documents or kanban boards, but just thinking through design issues and dreaming up cool stuff. My number one goal with this project is to just have fun with game development again! :)

That’s it! No more email. Thanks for reading!
Love, Eva.
