EU AI Fund News - Issue #4

EU AI Fund News
We hope you’re all well as we’re heading into the fall. As always, this newsletter features new publications and campaigns by the organisations we support and two thematic focus ares. This month, we’re looking at tech and migration, as well as the Digital Services Act (DSA). Before we get to this, however, two updates from the AI Fund team.

We're hiring a new Fund Director
As those of you who have spoken to us individuals over the past week already know, we are hiring a new Fund Director.
We are looking for a forward-thinking leader in the technology and civil society space in Europe. As the Fund Director steering this initiative, you will strengthen, cultivate and help to grow this funder partnership by acting as the liaison between the Network for European Foundations and the donors that contribute to the fund.
Please share this job opening widely in your networks! The European AI Fund has engaged the services of Odgers Berndtson, to whom applications should be sent at your earliest convenience and by no later than Monday 13 December 2021. You can get in touch with us if you have any questions.
New report by European AI Fund 📄
We are very proud to publish our first research report on “How to Fund public interest work around AI in Europe?”. Eighteen months into the inception of this fund, we took taking stock of our strategy. In a fast-changing AI policy environment, this report forms a crucial part of our own reflection on how to best support civil society within the AI ecosystem. We were very glad we got to work with Fieke Jansen, Julia Reinhardt, and Susan Morgan, who jointly authored this report based on extensive consultations with civil society, AI and policy practitioners, as well as US and European funders. Let us know what you think.

Focus: tech and migration
Technological change are rapidly transforming every aspect of our societies and economies, and the migration and refugee policy space is no exception. That’s one reason why we are so glad we can support The Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM).
