This week we remember
Herbert served with Southend Borough Constabulary from 23 June 1932. He enlisted with the Royal Horse Artillery in 1924 serving in Egypt until 1931. He then worked as a labourer, married and then joined the Southend Force.
He was mobilised to the army on 1 December 1939, transferred to the Corps of Military Police and died from lymphatic leukemia, at the West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth on Tuesday 6 May 1941.
Obituaries
The Chief Constable regrets to inform you of the sad death of our former colleague Malcolm Porter who retired as a Constable in 2004 and served as a traffic officer based at Rayleigh, Billericay, Laindon and Saffron Walden. He passed away on 27 March 2022 aged 76 years.
The Chief Constable regrets to inform you of the sad death of our former colleague David Robinson who retired as a Constable in 1989 and served at Pitsea, Halstead, Marine Unit at Grays, Dedham, & Copford. He passed away on 2 April 2022 aged 84 years.
