I wanted to announce some very exciting news…
My podcast is now LIVE!
In fact, within 3 days of launching, it was charted as #11 Top Podcasts for Alternative Health in Australia!
Before we get into that (saving the best til last), I want to share something that I discussed on my IG story:
How to increase the runner’s high feeling AKA. the Exercise Afterglow.
👉🏽WHAT IS THE RUNNER’S HIGH?
It simply represents the feeling of exaltation/euphoria that is experienced by some people when they engage in repetitive exercise.
👁 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SOMEONE FEELS LIKE THIS?
This phenomenon was first reported in a group of long distance marathon runners who reported that they felt so good after the event as if they had taken some psychedelic drug. However, similar feelings were later reported even in rugby players, bikers, grapplers, swimmers. Thus, the term runners high is a misnomer, since running is not the only way to get the “high,” it can also occur, with other forms of endurance exercises (Sharat & Mittal, 2015).
👉🏽WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE BRAIN:
-Release of endogenous opioids occurs in frontolimbic brain regions (Jack et al., 2016).
-Dopamine is significantly increased in the areas of the brain responsible for reward and attention (Jones et al., 2011).
-Enhanced activity Endocannabinoids.
+Many more neurobiological changes…
🔴 HOW CAN YOU INCREASE THE RUNNER’S HIGH?
1. Phenylalanine powder (500-1000mg), 30 minutes before exercise, away from food.
2. Consume Blueberries (Contains Pterostilbene, which increases anandamide) 30 minutes before exercise.
3. Maca powder (FAAH Inhibitor).
4. Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) (Increases anandamide and endocannabinoid activity).
5. Olive Leaf extract (For MAO-B Inhibition).
(Consult your healthcare professional before taking any of these).
The Runner’s High is a real phenomenon. It can be further ENHANCED by using specific nutrients, supplements and herbs, which prolong the afterglow.
