This type of social anxiety is troubling for many. I once had issues with this personally. When I realised that this was ruining my quality of life, I looked into what might be happening on a neurobiological level.
Funnily enough, I came across an article
that suggested that lactate, which is built up from excessive weight training/gym work, can actually induce anxiety-like behaviours.
I actually noticed that my symptoms were worse when I was eating a very high protein diet, and training to reach SERIOUS DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness).
It wasn’t until I looked into biohacks to LOWER LACTATE , and realised that one Vitamin could do this quite well…. VITAMIN B1 (Thiamine HCL).
I began mega dosing Thiamine HCL (100mg-500mg daily), and noticed that my verbal fluency, and anxiety in social situations reduced dramatically.
TLDR: Anxiety can be provoked by HEAVY weight training, particularly training that increases lactate levels, and B1 may help.
