Travel & Accommodation Grants
The European Conference of Science Journalism has a limited amount of travel grants to support science journalists to attend the conference. The grant supports up to EUR 500 for travel, accommodation and the registration fee for the conference.
Please note: the amount of grants is limited. If you have other sources of funding, such as your employer’s travel budgets, please pursue those first to maximize the funds available to your fellow science journalists.
Registration is now open, click here to apply.
Schedule:
- Deadline for registrations: 15 May 2022 23:59 CET
- Panel review: 16 - 22 May 2022
- Applicants notified: 23 May 2022
The travel grants are funded by EurekAlert!, Elsevier and the European Federation for Science Journalism (EFSJ) thanks to a donation from three among its founding associations – the Swiss SASJ, the French AJSPI and the Italian SWIM – who organised the very successful World Conference of Science Journalists WCSJ2019 in Lausanne through the Alpine Consortium.
Call for proposals
The #ECSJ2022 is still accepting calls for proposals for a talk or workshop (or any other format we can accommodate) relevant to this year’s theme, Investigating Science. Panels should ideally take a critical look at the role of science journalism as a mediator between science and the public.
Your proposal should be < 500 words and as specific as possible regarding the subject, possible speakers, format and duration of the event. Send it to proposal@ecsj2022.eu before 1 June.
The ECSJ conference is not a virtual conference. Possibilities for live-streaming are limited. If your proposal is selected, ECSJ will reimburse travel and lodging expenses for you and at most three other contributors to your event. This applies to travel in Europe. For travel from outside Europe, first consult the ECSJ-committee.
