Updates from our studio.

It’s been a busy few weeks and we wanted to touch base with you all to let you know what’s been going on and to give you a hint of what we have planned for the next couple of months.

May & June 2016
June has been one of our busiest month’s on record, that’s coming off the back of a month that’s always busy for us, the Bank Holiday filled month of May. At the beginning of May we found out we were nominated for the Fine Art Trade Guild’s Digital Printer of the Year award and at the end of May we found out we were beaten finalists! Considering this was our first time entering the competition, it was brilliant to finish within the top 6 — especially as it’s a competition that attracts entries from all over the world — next year we’ll be looking to do one better.
During the first weeks of June, Tom took a week off for a trip to Amsterdam and Martin took time off to get married, and in a moment of cruel coincidence, at the same time two of our printers developed faults. We were prepared for Martin’s and Tom’s absence, but not the printer downtime. One of those printers was our 24inch Epson 7900, this is 50% of our capacity for printing your work and the printer was offline for almost 2 weeks. During those weeks, we struggled to keep up with our advertised lead times, if you were affected by this downtime, we can only apologise.
To make sure this doesn’t happen again, we’re investing in a shiny new printer that will be arriving with us next week. This extra print capacity for the studio will speed up turnaround times and give us a backup if the worst does happen again.
The Way We Communicate
Email and phone; since we first started, these two lines of communication have been the method used to place orders, ask for help, find out a quote, check in on an order and for you to receive updates from our studio. We’re looking to expand the ways you can talk to us and before we start signing up to every messaging service on the planet, we’d like some help from you. 
We’ve put together a very short survey — only three questions — to help us find out what tools you use to communicate with. It would be great if you can spend 2 minutes ticking some boxes and help us choose the right services to talk to you in the future. Here’s the link;
The Way You Order
Another method that hasn’t changed since we first opened for business is the way we accept orders; everything an email with your requirements and images. We’ve always loved that an order can be as simple as a couple of lines of text in an email - our knowledge of you and your work allows us to expand that into a set of requirements and the resulting print. We’re not going to change this, but we are adding to it.
Within the next couple of months, we will be releasing an update to our website which will contain an online order form, one that will be able to cope with all the variations and intricacies of placing a bespoke print order with us. What will be sent to us from this form will help us speed up the ordering process by making sure we have everything clear from you straight away, which in turn will hopefully speed up our turnaround times too. We’ll also be adding a ‘My Account’ login so you’ll can save your address and contact details for future orders, new content for our help pages and one or two other extras that we’ll discuss in our next update.
