Article worth reading-
Auren Hoffman is a multi-time CEO and voracious reader. He writes as well. This piece on How Do I Make Over $200,000 /year?
interested me. Specifically, this part– 🤑
One of the rarest things to do in the work world (and this is also true in the social world) is simply to do what you say will do. Be dependable. When you say you will do something, you do it. You meet expectations. Almost nobody does this. Just doing this one step puts you in the top 10% of employees.
new logo is up! Yay! This was inspired by Marce
, check the link and show her some love by getting some of her artwork. She started the logo and I had it finished on fiverr.com, a freelancing website. While I’m happy with how the logo turned out, the designer delayed it quite a few times, sending me his first draft on the delivery date despite chatting about the need for revisions before beginning. It was a good reminder of Auren’s words above, and related to the following advice from Neil Gaiman
(my paraphrasing)… 🖼
- do good work
- show up on time
- be friendly
You only need two of the three. If you do good work and show up on time, people will tolerate unfriendliness. If you show up on time and are friendly, people will tolerate mediocrity. If you do good work and are friendly, people will tolerate lateness. My fiverr delivery was late, then I received an unfriendly message after leaving a review about the lateness. Two of the three were missed, so I became a sour puss. 😾
In other news, today is election day! Regardless of whether or not you’re voting, or who you’re voting for, know that I wish you well anyways. Sending good vibes to you. Voting is but a small part of our life and our identity. Even if we strongly identify with a particular belief system, we contain multitudes :)
Every day is election day. Every day we elect to do things with our attention and our behavior. Every day we make choices that influence us in the present moment, which impact our future. Remember that!
PS- I’m taking a social media sabbath today as a gift to myself. Checking the polls throughout the day doesn’t seem to do anything besides increase anxiety, and that isn’t something I want to add to my life. How are you opting in to unnecessary anxiety?
